Viman Nagar, 12th August 2024: A 27-year-old man named Saleem Golekhan was arrested by Pune City Police for allegedly trying to board a flight with a fake airline ticket at Pune Airport on Sunday. Saleem, a resident of Mohan Nagar in Chinchwad, was caught when he attempted to travel to Lucknow alongside his father, who had a legitimate ticket.
Airport security raised suspicions about Saleem’s ticket when they noticed an irregular PNR number at the airline counter. This led to his immediate detention by authorities. Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari from the Vimantal police station stated, “Our initial investigation indicates that Saleem’s father had a valid return flight to Lucknow. Saleem, who was only there to see him off, tried to use a counterfeit ticket to board the flight himself. The airline staff quickly identified the discrepancy and notified the authorities, resulting in his apprehension.”
In connection with Saleem’s arrest, a travel agent named Nasseruddin Khan from Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh, has also been implicated for allegedly assisting in the creation of the forged ticket. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities delve deeper into the details of the case.
