If you were planning a scenic drive to Sinhagad Fort anytime soon, you might want to reconsider after a massive six-ton rock came crashing down near Jagtap Machi on the Ghat Road. Thankfully, no one was hurt as the incident occurred at 5 am when the road was deserted.

This isn’t the first time such an event has taken place, as landslides are a common occurrence on the Sinhagad Ghat roads during the monsoon season. Despite efforts to safeguard the area, accidents involving tourists are still a frequent problem. The Mawla Jawan organization is calling on the administration to implement immediate safety measures to protect visitors.

When attempts to remove the rock with a JCB machine failed, the forest department had to resort to using breakers to break the massive boulder. It took four hours of hard work, but by noon, the road was cleared and traffic could resume.

The rockfall caused quite a bit of chaos for vehicles traveling from Kalyan, Kondhanpur, Donje, and Pune, including jeeps and milk tempos. The debris and rocks blocked the road, leading to significant delays and disruptions for travelers. Stay safe out there, folks!
