Hey Pune folks, it looks like the Maharashtra State Excise Department has been cracking down on illegal liquor activities during the recent elections. According to Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, they seized a whopping ₹7.63 crore worth of liquor in Pune district alone. That’s a lot of booze!
In fact, Pune district accounted for a quarter of all the liquor seized in Maharashtra during this time. The Excise Department was not messing around, registering a total of 1,100 cases and arresting 1,042 individuals. Talk about a busy few weeks!
The Model Code of Conduct for the Maharashtra elections was in full swing from 15th October to 20th November. The Pune division of the Excise Department was on fire, confiscating liquor and 234 vehicles valued at over ₹7.6 crore. That’s some serious law enforcement action!
Under the watchful eye of Pune Excise Superintendent Charan Singh Rajput, the department seized all kinds of alcohol – beer, country-made liquor, foreign liquor, and even some hand-distilled country liquor, wine, and toddy. They weren’t leaving any stone unturned!
And just when you thought the party was about to start, a dry day has been declared for tomorrow in anticipation of the election results. That means no booze for you, Pune! Superintendent Rajput is urging everyone to play by the rules and report any violations to the authorities. Remember, no alcohol sales tomorrow, folks!
So, stay safe, stay sober, and let’s see what the election results have in store for us. And remember, if you see something fishy happening with alcohol sales, don’t hesitate to dial the toll-free number 1800-233-9999 or the Pune Excise Office at 020-26127321. Let’s keep Pune clean and sober, one tip at a time!
