With the election campaign in Pune coming to an end after 20 days of intense campaigning, the focus now shifts to ensuring a smooth and peaceful voting process. The Pune City Police have ramped up security measures across the city to prevent any law and order issues on polling day.
The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) have been called in to support the local police, along with the Quick Response Team and the Home Guards. Seven Assembly segments in the city, along with parts of one city constituency and three segments in rural areas, fall under the Pune Police jurisdiction.
To ensure the safety and security of voters, a large number of police personnel have been deployed for monitoring the polling process. Additional Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Police Commissioners, Police Inspectors, Assistant Police Inspectors, and Police Sub-Inspectors are all on duty. In total, over 5,000 police personnel, along with Home Guards and CAPF, will be keeping a close eye on the voting centres.
In addition to the security measures in place, combing operations and checkpoints will be set up across the city on the night of November 19 to further secure the area. With over 3,000 voting centres in 716 buildings in the city, security has been beefed up around all polling stations to ensure a smooth voting process.
