In a major development, the Maharashtra state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, made some significant decisions during their meeting today. The focus was on revenue, water resources, and soil and water conservation, with the government aiming to address key issues facing the state.
One of the key decisions taken was the extension of the Abhay scheme for one more year. This scheme provides relief to citizens by offering lower premium rates for converting government occupant class-2 lands into occupant class-1 for cooperative housing societies. It applies to various types of land use, including agricultural, non-agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.
In a move to improve water security, the cabinet approved the Temghar project in Pune district. A whopping ₹315.05 crore has been allocated for dam strengthening and leakage prevention in Mulshi taluka, which is expected to benefit the region greatly.
Furthermore, the cabinet also approved ₹170 crore for 25 projects aimed at constructing submerged dams in the Koyna reservoir area, covering Mahabaleshwar and Jawali talukas in Satara district. This initiative, under the Soil and Water Conservation Department, is geared towards enhancing water storage and management in regions that are prone to drought.
Overall, these decisions are a step in the right direction towards addressing crucial issues related to revenue, water resources, and soil and water conservation in Maharashtra. The government’s focus on these areas is commendable and will hopefully lead to positive outcomes for the state and its citizens.
