Ahmednagar, 12th September 2024: In a shocking development, the Military Intelligence (MI) Pune, working in conjunction with Bingar Camp Police Station in Ahmednagar, has successfully apprehended Satyajit Barath Kamble, the alleged mastermind behind a massive fake army recruitment racket. Kamble was captured in Belapur, Shrirampur, Ahmednagar, after a dramatic chase that originated in New Delhi.

The accused had been masquerading as an Army Major and had been orchestrating an elaborate scam that spanned multiple states, including Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, and New Delhi. Along with his cohorts, Kamble deceived hundreds of hopeful candidates by falsely guaranteeing them positions in the Indian Armed Forces (Army and MES).

Further investigations have revealed that Kamble is the kingpin of this deceitful recruitment scheme, which had operations in various states. He, alongside his network of associates, which included female agents, targeted job seekers by posing as army officers and personnel from recruitment zones. The racket had established fraudulent training camps in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and Shrigonda, Maharashtra. Aspiring candidates were swindled out of 7-8 lakh rupees each, resulting in an estimated total scam of 3-4 crore rupees.

Kamble’s strategy involved enticing candidates at recruitment rallies and through academies scattered across states like Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana. These individuals were then directed to counterfeit training camps in remote locations, such as the forests of Dehradun and Shrigonda, where they were issued fake joining letters in the names of high-ranking Army officials, including the Ex-Southern Army Commander and Chief Engineer Officer.

The operation even went to the extent of procuring camping gear resembling military equipment from local markets in New Delhi and Dehradun, providing the candidates with accommodation during the supposed training and furnishing them with bogus trainee identity cards.

Authorities suspect that the extent of the racket goes beyond what has been unearthed thus far. During questioning, Kamble disclosed the involvement of several accomplices whose identities have been revealed. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated as authorities strive to identify more members of the network.
