In a shocking turn of events in the Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case, the accused Walmik Karad has now had the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) invoked against him. Karad, who was already in police custody for an extortion case, was brought before the Sessions Court where the CID’s request for extending his police custody was denied. He has now been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

The news of MCOCA being applied against Karad has sparked tension in Parli, where his supporters have taken to the streets in protest and called for a bandh. Many shops have been forced to close as a result of the agitation. Karad’s wife has vehemently denied the allegations against her husband, claiming that they are politically motivated and fueled by casteism. She has called for an end to this injustice, stating that a criminal has no caste.

On the other hand, Santosh Deshmukh’s family members have demanded that MCOCA be invoked against all those involved in his murder. His daughter Vaibhavi stressed the importance of holding all the culprits accountable and ensuring that justice is served. Dhananjay Deshmukh, Santosh’s brother, expressed his faith in the police and the Chief Minister, urging them to apply MCOCA to all the accused individuals.

The developments in this case have brought the spotlight back on the issue of organized crime and the need for strict action against those involved in such heinous acts. The people of Pune are eagerly awaiting further updates on this case as the investigation continues.
