After suffering a resounding defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidates are pointing fingers at alleged EVM tampering and widespread bribery. MNS president Raj Thackeray has instructed party officials to gather evidence and file written complaints regarding these claims.
The MNS, which fielded candidates in 128 constituencies, failed to secure a single seat. In an effort to understand the reasons behind this loss, Thackeray held a meeting with 82 candidates from various regions of the state. During the meeting, candidates discussed issues such as suspected EVM tampering, financial irregularities, low voter turnout, and other constituency-specific challenges.
City president Sainath Babar, state general secretary Rajendra alias Babu Wagaskar, and other senior party members were present at the meeting. While Thackeray did not speak to the media afterwards, Wagaskar briefed reporters on the discussions.
According to Wagaskar, most candidates expressed concerns about EVM tampering and financial irregularities in certain areas. Despite their determination in the elections, candidates stressed the need to strengthen the party’s organizational structure.
Thackeray has instructed party leaders to document all complaints related to EVMs and financial irregularities and gather supporting evidence. This information will be presented to Thackeray, who will determine the next steps for the party.
Moving forward, the MNS aims to address internal challenges and strengthen its foundation as it looks to bounce back from this electoral setback.
