The language controversy in Maharashtra has now spread to Pune, with tensions erupting at Airtel’s Wakdewadi office. Reports suggest that a team leader, Shahbaz Ahmed, enforced a “Hindi-only” rule, sparking outrage among Marathi-speaking employees.

According to allegations, Ahmed threatened employees with job loss if they spoke Marathi at the office and even denied them leave on Hindu festivals. It is also reported that Marathi employees have not been paid for three months.

In response, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers confronted Ahmed, demanding that the pending salaries be cleared by Monday. They warned that failure to comply would result in the demolition of three Airtel offices in Swargate, Wakdewadi, and Kharadi.

This incident is part of a larger trend of language-related disputes in the state, with similar incidents reported in Thane and Mumbra. Airtel has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegations.
