1. Tathawade residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the long-standing traffic issue caused by the 220 kV high-voltage tower is set to be resolved. The tower, located under PCMC’s ‘F’ regional office jurisdiction, has been a major headache for commuters in Ward No. 12.
  2. The booming industrial and IT sector in Tathawade has led to a surge in population and traffic congestion in the area. Despite warnings from MSETCL about the safety hazards posed by the tower, technical limitations prevented its closure.
  3. However, thanks to the efforts of former corporator Shantaram Bhalekar and MLA Mahesh Landge, a solution is finally in sight. The existing tower will be relocated 50 meters away using a monopole structure, creating more space on the road for smoother traffic flow.
  4. Landge’s persistence paid off as PCMC approved the necessary actions and the Standing Committee sanctioned the tender for the relocation work. The project is expected to kick off soon, offering a permanent fix to the traffic woes in the area.
  5. Bhalekar expressed gratitude for Landge’s support in pushing for the tower’s removal, emphasizing the relief it will bring to Tathawade residents. With the monopole installation on the horizon, residents can look forward to safer and less congested roads in the near future.
