Hey Pune, looks like the monsoon winds are taking their sweet time this year! According to weather experts, there has been a noticeable decrease in the speed of the monsoon winds over the past few hours. But don’t worry, the experts assure us that the much-awaited monsoon rains will still make their way to Kerala on time.
Madhavan Rajeevan, a former secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, took to social media to share the news about the slowing down of the monsoon winds. He mentioned that this could potentially lead to heat waves in North India during June. This update has sparked a new debate among meteorologists about the progress of the seasonal winds.
Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, a retired scientist from the IMD, explained that the recent Cyclone Remal has caused the vapor over the Bay of Bengal to move towards Bangladesh and West Bengal. This shift has resulted in a slight slowdown in the progress of the Bengal branch of the monsoon. Additionally, the southwesterly monsoon winds from the Mascarene Islands have also decreased in speed, contributing to the overall slowing down of the monsoon winds.
Despite these setbacks, both experts are confident that the monsoon rains will reach Kerala as planned. So, while we may have to wait a little longer for the rains to arrive, rest assured that they will eventually make their way to us. Stay tuned for more updates as the monsoon season progresses!
