Hey Pune folks, looks like the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) is cracking down on environmental violations in your city! The latest target? The Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) managed by M/s. Hydroair Tectonics PCD Ltd. in Talegaon Industrial Area.

MPCB officials recently conducted an inspection and found some serious issues at the CETP. From a non-operational High Rate Transpiration System (HRTS) to lack of basic infrastructure like proper disposal pipelines, the violations are concerning. And let’s not forget about the burning of hazardous waste on-site, causing air pollution in the area.

But that’s not all – local bodies have also been caught using the HRTS site as a dumping ground for municipal solid waste. Yikes!

The MPCB has issued strict directions to the MIDC Deputy Engineer to clean up the mess. From immediate cleanup to upgrading the infrastructure and ensuring round-the-clock operation of the CETP, there’s a lot that needs to be done.

If the authorities fail to comply within seven days, further action under the Water and Air Acts will be taken. Let’s hope they get their act together and start prioritizing environmental protection in Pune!
