Hey there, folks! Big news coming out of Pune today – the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has been given the green light to take charge as the Special Planning Authority for 117 villages along the proposed Pune Ring Road project. This move, announced by the Maharashtra Government, is aimed at making development smoother and speeding up the implementation of the 172-kilometer ring road project.
These villages are spread out across five talukas in the Pune district, including Haveli, Bhor, Purandar, Mulshi, and Velhe. MSRDC will be working on creating comprehensive development plans for these areas as part of a larger strategy to improve connectivity and boost economic growth in the region.
In Haveli taluka, 25 villages like Gogalwadi, Malkhed, and Mandvi Khurd will be part of the development plan. Bhor taluka will see 37 villages, such as Bhambavade, Bhongwali, and Dhangawadi, included in the project scope. Purandar taluka is contributing 23 villages to the plan, including Kodit Khurd, Pur, and Pokhar.
Mulshi taluka has 23 villages listed for development, with names like Mutha, Botarwadi, and Andgaon on the list. Velhe taluka has the smallest number, with six villages including Varasgaon, Kuran Budruk, and Mose Budruk.
The Pune Ring Road project, stretching across 172 kilometers with a width of 112 meters, is aiming to ease traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. MSRDC will be taking charge of an area of approximately 668 square kilometers across these villages.
There are plans for two economic development centers along the ring road, one covering 62 villages in Haveli, Bhor, and Purandar talukas, and another encompassing 55 villages in Haveli, Mulshi, and Velhe talukas.
This decision has raised some concerns about the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s draft development plan, as there may be some overlapping jurisdictions. However, officials are confident that MSRDC’s expertise as a planning authority will help speed up the project implementation.
The land acquisition process for the ring road is currently underway, with MSRDC aiming to have it completed by March 2025. The entire project is expected to be up and running by September 2027, according to recent statements from MSRDC officials.
As the project progresses, it is expected to have a significant impact on the region’s infrastructure, potentially boosting economic activities and improving connectivity for the villages and surrounding areas. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
