Hey there travelers! Big news coming out of Maharashtra today – the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has decided to privatize 28 resorts and three vacant lots in popular tourist destinations. What does this mean for you? Well, it might mean shelling out a little extra cash to stay at these sought-after locations.

MTDC’s resorts are known for their prime locations and affordability, making them a hit among tourists. But despite their popularity, the State Government has chosen to go the privatization route.

This decision was initially made by the Mahavikas Aghadi government, led by Uddhav Thackeray and Aditya Thackeray. However, after a change in power, the Mahayuti government under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde put the plan on hold. But now, the initiative has been revived, with e-tenders for privatization already out and a deadline of 27th September looming.

Some of the resorts up for privatization include Sinhagad, Panshet, Karla, and Bhimashankar in Pune, as well as other popular spots like Velaneshwar and Ganpatipule in Ratnagiri, Tarkarli and Kunkeshwar in Sindhudurg, and Malshej Ghat in Thane, among others.

So, if you’re planning a trip to any of these locations in the near future, be prepared to possibly pay a bit more for your stay. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story!
