Nasirabad Cantonment Board in Pune has taken a groundbreaking step by launching the “JAN SAMWAD – Chawani Prashasan Aapke Dwar” initiative. This innovative program is the first of its kind among the 61 cantonments under the Ministry of Defence, aiming to bring administration to the doorstep of residents.
At the inaugural event in Ward No. 6, around 800 to 1,000 residents actively participated, discussing collective issues such as drainage, roads, streetlights, and contaminated water. CEO Dr. Nitish Gupta set timelines for resolving these issues, impressing residents with his proactive approach.
To ensure ongoing progress, Dr. Gupta formed informal committees of social activists in each ward to monitor developmental works. He personally inspected Ward No. 6 alongside cantonment employees to address issues on the spot and create a roadmap for future repairs.
The public has lauded this initiative, with Dr. Gupta promising similar JAN SAMWAD sessions in all wards. He also announced the launch of a ward-wise list of sanitation workers and electricians for easy access to relevant personnel for minor grievances.
With a schedule of events planned for each ward and a commitment to complete all sessions by October 2nd, Nasirabad Cantonment aims to promote community engagement and cleanliness in alignment with the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.
