From waterlogged roads to submerged cars, Pune and Mumbai have been hit hard by the first substantial rain of the season. The monsoon made a dramatic entrance into Maharashtra, causing chaos in various areas. Trees fell in 15 locations, and buildings on Pashan and Sinhagad Roads were flooded. Traffic congestion was widespread in key areas such as Deccan Gymkhana, JM Road, and Viman Nagar.

In response to the situation, opposition parties have targeted the ruling party of the Pune Municipal Corporation, which has been under administrative rule since 2022. Newly elected MP Murlidhar Mohol, who was serving as Mayor during that time, has come under scrutiny.

State President of the Nationalist Congress Party, Jayant Patil, expressed his concerns about Pune’s condition, stating that the city was filled with water due to the heavy rains. He criticized the former rulers of PMC, sarcastically remarking that they had brought the sea to Pune.

The situation in Pune and Mumbai serves as a reminder of the challenges that come with the monsoon season in Maharashtra. Stay safe and be prepared for more rain in the days to come.
