The National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla recently took a big step towards promoting environmental responsibility by organizing a tree plantation drive on its massive 6,700-acre campus. Led by Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, the Commandant of NDA, the event saw the active participation of the entire NDA community, including cadets and staff.

Approximately 4,200 saplings were planted during the drive, with the Forest Department, Pune Division generously providing the saplings. The aim of the initiative was to enhance the greenery of the campus and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

Not only did NDA members participate in the drive, but students from Army Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Aruna Chaudhary Mahadhyamik Vidyalaya joined in as well. The theme of the Environmental Awareness Campaign was “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of Mother), with the goal of instilling a sense of environmental stewardship in the younger generation.

Vice Admiral Singh praised the collective effort and emphasized the importance of maintaining ecological balance through the preservation of flora and fauna. He urged everyone to play a role in protecting the environment, stating that the tree plantation drive is a valuable gift for future generations.

Overall, the tree plantation drive at NDA was a successful and impactful initiative that highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and community involvement.
