- Plans for a dedicated cancer hospital in Pune in the works
In a bid to enhance medical education and services, postgraduate students specializing in neurology, cardiology, nephrology, and plastic surgery from BJ Medical College will now attend classes at a super specialty hospital. The Sassoon administration has prepared a proposal for staffing, including doctors and nurses, which will soon be submitted to the Department of Medical Education for approval.
Additionally, plans are underway to establish a separate cancer hospital in Pune. Discussions regarding the location will be held with the district collector, and a final plan will be drafted and submitted to the state government for approval, as mentioned by Medical Education Commissioner Rajeev Nivatkar.
With the number of patients at Sassoon Hospital steadily increasing, there is a growing strain on its super specialty services. Therefore, the proposal for a new hospital will soon be presented to the government for approval, aiming to alleviate the pressure on existing facilities and improve healthcare services in the region.
