Citizens in the NIBM area are pushing for action to address several pressing issues on the NIBM hill. One major concern is the need for Continuous Contour Trenching (CCT) to prevent erosion and water flow down the hill. The incomplete fencing wall and collapsing hill portion near the Dorabjee Heritage Mall are also causing concern among residents.

Speaking on behalf of the citizens, Dhankikar emphasized the urgent need for action due to what she described as a “complete failure of the civic authorities.” She pointed out that rainwater is causing flooding in the parking lots of the Ganga Kingston society and even accumulating in the lift ducts of the society. The loose hill portion near the mall is also a major safety hazard that needs to be addressed promptly.

Daljeet Goraya, another member of the community forum, highlighted the impact of rapid urbanization on the environment. He stressed the importance of working with the forest department to address climate change-related issues in the area.

In a letter to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Dhankikar called for an environmental impact assessment to be conducted to assess the damage to the NIBM reserve forest area. The community is hopeful that government officials will take action to prevent a potential environmental disaster in the region.
