In a recent event, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Dr. Pramod Chaudhari for his 40-year dedication to biofuel research. Gadkari highlighted the importance of ethanol as an alternative fuel and how Dr. Chaudhari’s work in producing ethanol from sugarcane and other sources has boosted the economy. He mentioned that increasing ethanol production could significantly benefit farmers and rural communities by boosting the agricultural sector’s GDP contribution.

Gadkari also stressed the need for alternative fuels like biofuels to combat air pollution caused by vehicles. He announced that top automobile manufacturers such as Mahindra, Toyota, Hyundai, and Tata would soon launch vehicles running on 100% ethanol. Ethanol-based aviation fuel is also in development, marking a step towards sustainable transportation. Reflecting on Dr. Chaudhari’s impact, Gadkari mentioned his role in shaping India’s biofuel strategy and positioning the country as a global leader in the sector. He highlighted the potential of biofuel development in transforming rural India and reducing rural-to-urban migration, contributing to the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar commended the synergy between technology and policy under Gadkari’s leadership and Dr. Chaudhari’s research.
