The nightlife scene in Pune is facing a major crisis, with over 70 clubs being sealed and more than 150 facing action from the PMC and excise department. The latest development is a message circulating that no bars within Pune City Police limits can allow dancing, leaving hoteliers in a tough spot.

Hoteliers are now seeking assistance from the Pune District Collector and the High Court as they face significant revenue losses. They are questioning why Pune has different rules compared to other cities in Maharashtra.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has clarified that clubs without discotheque licenses are not allowed to permit dancing on their premises. Several clubs have already received notices for violating this rule, and their licenses may be at risk of being canceled.

Additional CP (admin) Arvind Chawariya has confirmed that notices have been sent to 15 out of the 22 clubs in Pune that hold discotheque licenses for violations.

The situation has left many in the hotel industry worried about their financial future, especially since the Porsche incident that took place recently. Some hoteliers are even considering relocating out of Maharashtra due to what they perceive as a lack of government support for the industry.
