The cancellation of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune on Thursday has sparked criticism from opposition parties, with Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar questioning the decision. He believes that the inauguration of the extended underground Metro route could have been done by any other leader or the Guardian Minister, saving unnecessary expenditure of public money.

Dhangekar pointed out that PM Modi has previously inaugurated other Metro stages, putting a strain on the State and country’s finances. He feels that the decision to cancel the event was politically motivated, aimed at gaining support in the upcoming State Assembly polls.

Instead, he suggests that the extended Metro route should be opened without any political agenda, possibly by a senior citizen or dignitary. He urges the Narendra Modi administration to reconsider their decision and avoid wasting public funds on unnecessary ceremonies.
