Residents of Mohamadwadi Undri recently came together for a candlelight vigil to shed light on the pressing issues affecting their community. From road congestion to encroachments and fatal accidents, the residents are demanding action from local authorities to address these concerns.

Organized by the Mohamadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation (MURWDF), the vigil aimed to bring attention to the negligence of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune City Police, Pune Traffic Police, and Pune RTO in tackling these critical issues. Over 200 residents participated in the vigil, which was held in memory of Dr. Pranali Date, who tragically lost her life in a fatal accident in the area.

The roads in Mohamadwadi Undri are notorious for heavy traffic and reckless driving, posing a serious threat to residents’ safety. Lack of basic facilities such as proper water supply, safe road connectivity, and public gardens are also major concerns for the community.

During the vigil, residents called on the authorities to take immediate action by widening roads, installing speed breakers, and cracking down on reckless drivers. They also urged the police to enforce traffic regulations on heavy vehicles that frequently violate the norms in the area.

In addition to road safety, residents are advocating for better infrastructure and public amenities to enhance their quality of life. The vigil served as a powerful reminder of the community’s frustrations and their plea for prompt intervention from local authorities to ensure their safety and well-being.
