But wait, there’s more! The Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) has also seen a surge in registrations, with 52,000 Dalit entrepreneurs making their mark in the business world. It’s truly inspiring to see such diversity and empowerment in the industry.
Ajit Chavan, the Additional CEO of GeM, spoke at an event organized by DICCI on International Women’s Day, praising the growing number of women in India’s unicorn startups. He credited the Indian Constitution for paving the way for women to step into leadership roles in various sectors, and highlighted GeM’s role in opening up business opportunities for women entrepreneurs, especially those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The event was a star-studded affair, with DICCI bigwigs like Ravi Kumar Nara and Dr. Milind Kamble in attendance, along with successful entrepreneurs like Geeta Pednekar and Avinash Jagtap. Several leading women entrepreneurs were also honored for their contributions to the industry – talk about girl power!
Chavan announced some exciting new initiatives under the “Swayatt” and “Womaniya” programs, aiming to create even more women entrepreneurs in the future. Dr. Milind Kamble chimed in, mentioning DICCI’s plans to support Dalit women in getting a piece of the business pie and fostering successful entrepreneurs nationwide.
