Hey Pune peeps, have you ever struggled to find a parking spot in the city? Well, you’re not alone! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had proposed a ‘Pay and Park’ system back in 2018 to tackle this issue on six major roads, but guess what? It’s still waiting for approval six years later.

The idea was to create designated parking areas on roads like Jangali Maharaj Road, FC Road, North Main Road, Aundh DP Road, Balewadi High Street, and Viman Nagar. These areas would be categorized into low, medium, and high-traffic zones with hourly rates for parking. Sounds like a good plan, right?

But here’s the kicker – the committee in charge of selecting roads for this initiative never actually met. Yep, you read that right. Despite ongoing discussions, no decision was made on which roads to prioritize. And with events like the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2019 elections getting in the way, the proposal has been gathering dust.

So, the next time you’re circling the block looking for a parking spot, just remember that the ‘Pay and Park’ system is still stuck in administrative limbo. Fingers crossed it gets the green light soon!
