Hey folks, exciting news coming out of Pimpri Chinchwad! The long-awaited bridge over the Mula River, connecting Sangvi to Bopodi, is finally in its final stages of construction. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has already spent a whopping Rs 32 crore on this project, with an additional Rs 20 crore now being allocated for its beautification.

According to PCMC officials, the beautification of the bridge is being done under the watchful eye of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. T and T Infra Limited are the ones handling the construction, but this hasn’t stopped criticism from pouring in towards PCMC.

Originally scheduled to be completed in two years, the project faced delays due to issues with acquiring the site of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Bopodi. As a result, the contractor’s deadline was extended to 31st August. However, as we’re now in mid-September, the bridge is still not open to the public.

To add to the mix, a new tender process has been started for the bridge’s beautification, with a whopping Rs 19.63 crore set aside just for this purpose. PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh gave the green light for this expenditure.

The significance of this bridge cannot be overstated, as it connects Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune. Former mayors and corporators have been keeping a close eye on the progress, and their efforts have led to a concept and preliminary design being created. A presentation was even made to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, whose suggestions have now been incorporated into the final plan for the bridge’s beautification.

One major concern, however, is the narrow roads leading to the new bridge in Sangvi. Areas like Mamta Nagar, Datta Ashram, Priyadarshini Nagar, Pawana Nagar, and Mula Nagar are expected to face severe traffic congestion once the bridge is open, especially with the increased flow of vehicles between Pune city and Sangvi.

Overall, it’s an exciting time for Pimpri Chinchwad as this much-anticipated bridge nears completion. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
