Hey there, folks of Pimpri Chinchwad! Did you know that the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) owes a whopping sum of crores to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)? That’s right, a total of Rs 7.55 crores is owed by the Police to the PCMC administration for using 22 PCMC buildings on a rental basis. And guess what? This debt has been unpaid for a whopping 19 years! Talk about inconsistency in timely payments, right?

The PCPC, which got its own commissionerate in 2018, started off in PCMC’s Mahatma Phule School Building in Premlok Park, Chinchwad. Recently, the Home Ministry of Maharashtra announced that the police will be getting a dedicated building for their administration and commissionerate, and work on it has already begun. But hey, what about those rent payments to PCMC that are still unsettled?

Not only that, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police have taken various properties and buildings belonging to PCMC on a rental basis for different purposes. From the Sangvi Police Station to the Police Quarters in Pimple Gurav, these properties have been in use since 2005 when the area was under the Pune City Police Commissionerate. And guess what? PCMC hasn’t received any payments for these properties since then!

So, what’s the deal with these outstanding payments? Well, the dues include a hefty sum for various properties like the Police Commissionerate building in Premlok Park, Dighi Police Station premises, Traffic Branch in Chinchwad, Police Headquarters in Nigdi, and more. In total, Rs 7.55 crore is owed to PCMC by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

Mukesh Kolap, Assistant Commissioner at PCMC, mentioned that they are in constant correspondence with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate to recover the outstanding amount. An agreement has already been reached for one property, and efforts to recover the money for the rest will begin soon.

So, Pimpri Chinchwad residents, what are your thoughts on this news? Let us know in the comments below!
