Hey there, folks! It’s time to talk about a serious issue that’s hitting our city hard – a severe shortage of platelets in blood banks. Platelets are crucial for clotting blood and preventing excessive bleeding, and right now, we’re running low.
With normal platelet counts ranging from 20,000 to 450,000 per microlitre of blood, it’s concerning that a majority of dengue patients are falling below 100,000. Some are even dropping to dangerously low levels of 20,000 or less, especially those experiencing complications like bleeding.
The problem is, our current blood donation response isn’t cutting it. We need more donors to step up and help support those in critical need. Urgent action is needed to prevent a healthcare crisis in our city.
So, if you’re able to donate blood or platelets, please consider doing so. You could be saving someone’s life. Let’s come together as a community and make sure everyone has access to the essential medical care they need.
