Modi’s recent visit to Pune was all about highlighting the importance of investment in infrastructure, industry, and startups. He pointed out the significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) over the past decade, with Maharashtra leading the way in attracting investments. The Prime Minister specifically praised Pune for its booming electronics and IT sectors, which have led to a plethora of job opportunities for the local population.
To further support Pune’s startup ecosystem, a special fund of Rs 1,000 crore has been set aside, along with a PM package geared towards promoting youth employment. Modi also touched upon the expansion of Pune’s metro network, mentioning the already operational Civil Court to Swargate route and the ongoing work on the Swargate to Katraj route.
In terms of infrastructure projects, the government has allocated Rs 40,000 crore for inner ring roads, Rs 10,500 crore for the outer ring road, and Rs 6,500 crore for completing the missing link of the expressway between Khopoli and Khandala. Additionally, progress on the Palkhi Marg project is well underway, with Rs 11,500 crore being allocated to benefit pilgrims.
During the rally, there was a brief moment of tension when a man demanded Maratha reservation and was subsequently detained, though he was later released. Traffic measures were put in place to ensure smooth flow, and fortunately, there were no major disruptions reported.
