Pune is set to get a facelift as the PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale cracks down on encroachments on designated ‘no hawkers’ zones. With unauthorized constructions taking over busy city roads, the PMC has taken swift action to clear these areas.

Weekly progress reports will be submitted to ensure the timely removal of encroachments. Minister of State, Muralidhar Mohol, has emphasized that the process should not be influenced by external pressures. Ward offices have been instructed to take immediate action in collaboration with the Encroachment Department.

To support these efforts, additional manpower will be allocated, addressing the shortage caused by the Lok Sabha elections. The ongoing property tax discount survey has also posed staffing challenges, but reassigned employees will soon bolster the encroachment removal operations.

The focus of the initial phase will be on clearing encroachments from footpaths and roads within the designated ‘no hawkers’ zones. Illegal vendors operating on busy roads and footpaths will also be targeted for removal, promising a cleaner and more organized city for Pune residents.
