Hey Pune folks, it looks like the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is cracking down on property tax defaulters in the city, and they mean business. With a whopping ₹334.10 crore owed collectively by the top 100 defaulters, it’s no wonder the PMC is taking aggressive action.

The highest defaulter on the list owes a jaw-dropping ₹18.44 crore, while even the lowest on the list still has arrears of ₹1.36 crore. That’s a lot of money!

To increase revenue, the PMC Property Tax Department has been pulling out all the stops. From playing bands outside defaulters’ properties to confiscating assets and sealing premises, they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to recover what is owed.

Not even government institutions are off the hook, with a whopping ₹93 crore in arrears. The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) takes the top spot with ₹23.21 crore owed. That’s a hefty bill!

But fear not, PMC is on the case. Peth-wise inspectors are out in full force, visiting 300 properties a day to collect dues. And in response to allegations of targeting small businesses, the PMC has released this list of top defaulters to set the record straight.

So, if you find yourself on that list, it might be time to cough up the cash before legal action comes knocking. Let’s all do our part to keep Pune running smoothly!
