Hey Pune peeps, great news for all the Ganesh Mandals gearing up for the upcoming Ganeshotsav! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that no fee will be charged for advertisements on arches erected by the mandals. But here’s the catch – these ads must not get in the way of roads or footpaths. Safety first, right?

It seems like there have been some complaints from citizens about the ads placed on boards in designated areas. So, the PMC held a meeting to address the issue. While the administration is all for promoting PMC activities through advertising, the Ganesh Mandal workers were hoping for some financial support from the PMC for these ads. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, so advertising is now voluntary.

The Ganesh Mandal workers also tried their luck by asking for a single permit to cover both the Dahi Handi and Ganesh Visarjan processions. But the PMC Commissioner shut that down real quick, stating that the fee concession only applies to Ganeshotsav. So, separate fees and permissions are needed for both festivals.

And let’s not forget about safety – the Commissioner stressed that the arches and ads should not block pedestrian pathways or roads. Each square can have arches up to 50 meters, but safety precautions must be followed to a T.

So, Ganesh Mandals, get ready to advertise your heart out for Ganeshotsav, but remember to play by the rules and keep those pathways clear!
