The issue of unauthorized hoardings in Pune has come to light, with the PMC granting permission for 2,598 hoardings but many more being visible across the city. Despite rules being violated, no action has been taken as hoarding owners claim to have permission. In response to this, all inspectors from the Skysign and Licenses Department of PMC have been briefed on the rules and instructed to photograph every hoarding and submit a report to address any misconduct.

Following a tragic incident in Mumbai, where a hoarding collapse resulted in 16 deaths and over 70 injuries, PMC has become vigilant. However, momentum slowed down due to opposition from hoarding owners and the Lok Sabha elections. To ensure the safety of citizens, officials have convened a meeting to address the issue and take necessary actions.

In order to determine if hoardings are erected in violation of the rules, employees have been instructed to photograph all hoardings in the city. Approximately 150 photos revealed several illegally erected hoardings, prompting orders to photograph all 2,598 hoardings and submit a comprehensive report. Action will also be taken against those who trim tree branches to accommodate hoardings, as emphasized by Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP. PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has warned that any attempt to mislead with false information will result in immediate suspension of the sky sign inspector. This measure aims to bring accountability and transparency to the process of obtaining licenses for hoardings in Pune.
