The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking action by inspecting libraries in the area to ensure they are up to safety standards.
Last week, a fire broke out at a library in Navi Peth where students preparing for exams like UPSC and MPSC study. Scary stuff, right? Luckily, the firefighters were able to control the blaze in time and no one was hurt. But this incident has raised concerns about the safety of students in libraries across Pune.
PMC Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P. mentioned that the fire brigade and PMC officials have been checking out study facilities in Sadashiv Peth and issuing notices to some of them. It seems like some libraries were not following safety requirements for students, and some were even operating without proper permissions.
With so many libraries in central Pune, like Sadashiv Peth, Navi Peth, Narayan Peth, and Shaniwar Peth, it’s important to make sure students are studying in safe environments. The PMC is cracking down on these facilities to ensure they have proper firefighting systems and safety features in place.
PMC Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale is serious about student safety and has instructed fire officials to inspect libraries to see if they are following safety measures. They are also looking into complaints about students being harassed in these study facilities.
