The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is cracking down on waste processing plants in the city after an incident involving the illegal disposal of plastic waste. The search operation has begun at the Ramtekdi plant, which supplied plastic to an industrial company in Deulgaon Gada.

Villagers recently caught a truck from Lalwani Transport Company carrying plastic waste to be burnt at the company’s boiler in Deulgaon Gada. The Yawat police have registered a case under the Environment Protection Act and are investigating the matter.

The truck driver revealed that he obtained the plastic waste from the Ramtekdi waste processing plant. In response to the incident, the PMC has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.

Head of the solid waste department, Sandeep Kadam, has issued notices to all waste processing plants in the area and has requested information regarding the truck in question. He has assured that strict action will be taken against the responsible plant.

Additional Commissioner of PMC, Prithviraj B.P., has stated that there will be no difficulty in identifying the plant involved. He mentioned that all processing plants are equipped with CCTV cameras, which will aid in the investigation.
