Hey Pune folks, great news for those of you living in Deccan, Shivajinagar, Model Colony, and Wadarvadi! The long-standing water supply issues in your area are finally going to be a thing of the past. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking some major steps to ensure a permanent solution to the water crisis.
They are constructing four large-capacity water tanks in the area. Two tanks with a massive capacity of 8.5 million liters each and two tanks with a capacity of 3 million liters each are in the works. The first 8.5 million-liter tank is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025, with a 700 mm diameter water pipeline being laid to supply water to this tank.
Residents in the area can expect to receive sufficient water by the end of June 2025, with the remaining tanks set to be completed by December 2025. Additionally, a massive 1.7 million-liter tank is being constructed at Fergusson Hill to supply water to several areas, including Deccan, Shivajinagar, Model Colony, and Wadarvadi.
The water for these tanks will be sourced from the Warje Water Station and supplied via the SNDT HLR tank. The construction of the tanks faced several delays, including opposition from environmental groups and delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with work now underway, the PMC is confident that the water supply issues in the region will soon be a thing of the past.
So, hang in there, Pune residents! Help is on the way, and soon enough, you won’t have to worry about water supply issues anymore. Cheers to a brighter future with a steady water supply!
