Hey, Pune peeps! Big news on the Katraj-Kondhwa road widening project. Remember how the PMC started this whole thing back in 2017? Well, after some financial hiccups, they decided to scale back the widening to 50 meters in 2023. But guess what? They’re going back to the original plan of widening it to 84 meters now.

So, what’s the deal with the cost? Originally, it was supposed to be Rs 715 crore, but now it’s going to be a whopping Rs 1,100 crore. That’s an extra Rs 400 crore that PMC will have to find. They’re also looking to get an additional Rs 400 crore from the government to help cover the costs.

The project has been in the works for a while now, with the foundation stone being laid in 2018. But due to land acquisition issues, it’s been stalled for the last six years. Only 6% of the required land has been acquired so far, with the rest still needing to be bought under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013.

Looks like there’s still a long road ahead for the Katraj-Kondhwa road widening project. Let’s hope everything falls into place soon so we can enjoy smoother traffic in the southern part of the city. Stay tuned for more updates!
