Attention all Pune Metro passengers! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is finally taking action to tackle the parking chaos near metro stations. With both metro lines running at full capacity, the lack of designated parking spaces has led to vehicles being parked haphazardly, causing traffic congestion on busy roads.

In response to Mahametro’s failure to provide sufficient parking, the PMC is now collecting data on available spaces around metro stations. They plan to convert these spaces into functional parking lots to ease the parking crisis. A budget of ₹5 crore has been allocated for this project, raising hopes for a long-term solution.

As metro ridership continues to rise, stations like Swargate and Ramwadi have seen long queues of vehicles due to the lack of formal parking. Even the new Swargate-to-Katraj line lacks dedicated parking facilities at its stations, adding to the frustration of passengers.

Swargate Metro Station, in particular, has been a hotspot for complaints. The limited parking space at the Swargate ST Bus Stand leaves metro users with no choice but to park on crowded streets. Some commuters have even been deterred from using the metro service due to the parking situation.

To address this issue, the PMC’s Project Department is identifying and reserving land along the Swargate-Katraj metro corridor for parking. The goal is to ensure seamless connectivity for metro users and reduce traffic disruptions caused by unorganized parking.

With PMC taking action, commuters in Pune are optimistic for a smoother metro travel experience and a resolution to the ongoing parking dilemma. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story!
