Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has just made life a whole lot easier for Ganeshotsav Mandals and Welcome Arch organizers. They’ve extended the validity of permits issued back in 2019 for a whopping five years. That means if you got the green light in 2019, you’re good to go for this year’s festivities without having to jump through hoops to get new permissions.
But hold on, if you’re a Ganesh Mandal looking to shake things up with a new setup or a change of location from your 2019 spot, there’s a new “single window scheme” in town. This joint effort by PMC and the Pune City Police will streamline the process at your local police station. No need to stress about extra license fees – PMC’s got you covered.
Now, onto the nitty-gritty. The PMC has laid down some ground rules for setting up those gorgeous Ganeshotsav mandaps:
– Height Restriction: Keep it under 40 feet unless you’ve got a stability certificate from a legit structural engineer for a taller structure.
– Road Safety: Emergency vehicles need a clear path, so don’t block those roads with your fancy pavilions and arches.
– Environmental Guidelines: Go green with eco-friendly Ganesha idols and follow the Pollution Control Act and state government’s guidelines to keep Mother Nature happy.
– Post-Festival Clean-Up: It’s your responsibility to clean up within three days of the festival ending. Fix any road damage pronto.
– Noise Pollution: Keep the decibels in check to avoid any noise complaints.
Dr. Rajendra Bhosle and Somnath Bankar are leading the charge, urging all Mandals to proudly display their permits for all to see. Let’s keep the Ganeshotsav celebrations organized, eco-friendly, and safe for everyone involved. Cheers to a fantastic festival season ahead in Pune!
