Well, well, well, it seems like the Ganesha idol vendors in Pune have been causing quite a stir! The PMC has cracked down on 226 stall vendors who have been setting up shop in a less-than-ideal manner, blocking roads and footpaths in the process.

With Ganeshotsav just around the corner, Pune residents are eager to get their hands on some Ganesha idols. But it seems like some vendors have taken it upon themselves to set up shop wherever they please, causing major traffic congestion in the process.

Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar from the Encroachment Department has issued notices to these vendors, instructing them to remove their encroachments immediately. The Sinhagad Ward Office seems to be leading the charge with 34 notices issued so far.

And it’s not just the vendors who are being targeted – even Ganapati mandals are under scrutiny. The PMC has warned them against setting up larger mandals than allowed, but so far, no violations have been found.

Areas like Aundh Baner, Bibwewadi, and Yerwada Kalas have seen a significant number of notices issued, with vendors in these areas being asked to clean up their act.

So, if you’re planning on buying a Ganesha idol in Pune this year, make sure you do it from a legitimate vendor who’s following the rules. Let’s keep the streets clear and the celebrations smooth!
