Hey there, folks! Looks like Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is in hot water once again. Civic activist Vivek Velankar recently used the Right to Information (RTI) Act to access some letters that have revealed some shocking news. It seems like the PMC has been sitting on 36 memoranda that require responses regarding land management. Despite numerous reminders, they have failed to address these important issues.
Velankar is not holding back with his criticism, calling out the administration for their apathy and lack of interest in governance. He pointed out that an audit uncovered a whopping ₹400 crore in leakages due to asset mismanagement. That’s a lot of money that could be recovered if the PMC actually takes action.
In response to the audit findings, the additional commissioner has called for a meeting with all department heads to discuss the audit office’s queries and provide supporting documents. It’s about time the PMC starts taking these issues seriously and starts working towards improving their financial situation.
Let’s hope that this meeting leads to some real action being taken to address these critical issues. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
