It’s that time of year again when the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issues paid permissions for temporary firecracker stalls. These stalls can be found on the riverside road behind Vartak Udyan in Narayan Pethe, but there’s a catch – unauthorized stalls are causing a stir due to safety concerns.

Despite the PMC’s regulations on stock limits, location approval, and permission requirements, unauthorized stalls continue to operate, posing a risk to public safety. With Diwali just around the corner, the PMC is working hard to crack down on these unauthorized stalls to prevent any potential accidents.

To make the process more transparent, the PMC has introduced an online auction system for allocating firecracker stalls. Bidding for some stalls has already reached an impressive ₹2 lakh, generating revenue for the corporation.

As the PMC takes swift action to remove unauthorized stalls, Pune residents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their safety is being prioritized. The Additional Commissioner has even ordered the Encroachment Removal Department to document their actions with photos, ensuring accountability throughout the process.

With these proactive measures in place, Pune residents can look forward to a safer and more enjoyable Diwali celebration this year. The PMC’s commitment to public safety during the festive season is truly commendable.
