Hey Pune folks, listen up! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is finally taking some action after the recent statue collapse incident in Malvan. It seems like they’re getting serious about the safety of the statues under their jurisdiction.

Yuvraj Deshmukh, the Chief Engineer of the Building Design Department at PMC, spilled the beans on their plans to conduct a structural audit of all the statues in Pune. Yep, you heard that right. They’re going to make sure these statues are safe and sound.

Apparently, Pune has over 50 statues – both half-sized and full-sized – that are in need of some TLC. The Building Design Department will be leading this project, and they’ve already collected data on all the statues in the city.

It’s a bit surprising to learn that PMC hasn’t really paid much attention to these statues in the past. They’ve only bothered to check on them during special occasions like birth and death anniversaries. And get this – no structural audits have ever been done on these statues since they were put up. Yikes!

But hey, better late than never, right? Deshmukh assured us that they will be inspecting all the statues and carrying out repairs where necessary. So, fingers crossed that our beloved statues will be safe and sound in the future.

Let’s hope this audit brings some much-needed attention to these neglected statues. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
