Hey there, Punekars! Looks like the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is cracking down on water wasters in the city. If you’re part of a housing society or live in an independent residential building, you might want to pay attention to this.
Under the Equal Water Supply Scheme, PMC has been keeping an eye on water consumption through water meters installed across the city. But it seems like some societies are taking more than their fair share of water. Naughty, naughty!
The guidelines set by PMC allow for 135 liters of water per person per day. However, some societies have been guzzling down 500 to 600 liters per person! That’s a lot of water, folks. And to make matters worse, leakages in society tanks and faulty systems are adding to the water wastage.
PMC has been sending out notices left, right, and center, asking societies to cut down on their water usage and fix those pesky leaks. But it looks like some folks just aren’t getting the message. So now, the PMC is considering cutting off the water supply to those who continue to ignore the warnings.
Once the zoning process is fully in place, PMC will be on the lookout for leaks with a thorough inspection drive. They’ll be checking main pipelines, secondary pipelines, and society tanks to make sure that the water output matches what’s being released from the main tanks. Any leaks that are found will be fixed to help manage water more efficiently.
So, if you’re living in a water-guzzling society, now might be a good time to start saving water. Because the PMC is not messing around when it comes to water conservation. Let’s all do our part to keep Pune water-wise!
