The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed all legal procedures for the Balbharati-Paud Phata Road project. This includes incorporating the road into the Development Plan, inviting public objections, and conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The court ruling has also specified that PMC should obtain Forest and Environmental Department permissions if necessary.
- Expert Consultations Determine Forest Department Clearance Needed
After consulting with experts, it was determined that Environmental Department approval is not required for the project. However, Forest Department clearance should be sought again, despite already obtaining it earlier.
- PMC Receives No-Objection Certificate from Environmental Department
PMC has received a no-objection certificate from the Environmental Department for the Balbharati-Paud Phata Road project. A proposal for Forest Department approval will be submitted soon.
- Budget Allocation Concerns for Balbharati-Paud Phata Road
While the estimated cost of the Balbharati-Paud Phata Road project is ₹252 crore, the 2025-26 PMC budget has only allocated ₹3 crore for the project. Officials have clarified that the budget was finalized before the court ruling and additional funds will be arranged as work progresses.
