A special committee looked into the July flooding that wrecked areas like Ekta Nagri, Deccan, and Patil Estate. Dr. Bhosale gathered all the bigwigs on Tuesday to discuss what needs to be done. They’re talking about clearing out stuff that’s blocking the natural flow of water, tearing down dams that aren’t needed, and getting rid of any encroachments in the riverbeds.
The focus is on the Mutha River to make sure water can move smoothly and not cause chaos during heavy rains. But they’re also thinking ahead for places like Ekta Nagri and Sinhagad Road. They’re considering fancy ideas like a riverfront development project, cluster development, and building some walls to protect the areas that are most at risk.
Dr. Bhosale is serious about this. He wants the administration to get moving on these quick fixes while also coming up with a solid long-term plan that will keep us safe before the next monsoon season rolls around. He said, “The administration needs to act fast and come up with smart solutions to make sure Pune can handle whatever Mother Nature throws our way.”
