The recent rainstorm in the city of Pune wreaked havoc on the streets, causing traffic jams and severe waterlogging. Trees were uprooted and low-lying areas were flooded, creating a nightmare for commuters. As a result, rail and flight movement were disrupted, with nearly 20 flights delayed.

The Pune Municipal Corporation’s disaster management helpline was inundated with 350 calls from concerned citizens reporting waterlogging, flooding, and potholes in their areas. Newly elected MP Murlidhar Mohol took note of the situation and vowed to seek financial aid from the Centre to address these issues.

To tackle the problem, PMC has deployed additional personnel at the ward level to address the concerns of residents. Ganesh Sonune, the head of PMC’s disaster management, emphasized the importance of allocating manpower based on the needs of each ward.

Residents are urged to contact PMC at 02025506800 and 02025501269 to register their complaints and seek assistance with the ongoing waterlogging and flooding problems. The lack of proper drainage systems and road maintenance has left citizens frustrated and concerned about their safety on the city’s waterlogged streets. Measures to improve road conditions and ensure the safety of commuters are urgently needed to prevent further damage and accidents.
