If you’re a commuter in Pimpri-Chinchwad or the Pune Metropolitan Region, you’ll be happy to hear that bus services are about to get a whole lot better. The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is set to establish three new bus depots in Bhosari, Ravet, and Moshi, thanks to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
These new depots, covering a total of 5.5 acres, will help ease the burden on existing facilities and improve connectivity for passengers. A senior official at PMPML explained that the process of acquiring these plots has been in the works for some time, and the handover from PMRDA was a smooth one.
With the existing depots in Bhosari and Nigdi struggling to cope with the increasing number of passengers and bus trips, the new depots will allow for more buses to be deployed and better connectivity along key highways like Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Nashik. Currently, PMPML buses run up to Rajgurunagar on the Pune-Nashik highway and extend services to Lonavala on the Pune-Mumbai highway.
The addition of these new depots will not only improve access to these routes but also benefit villages within PMRDA’s jurisdiction, ensuring a seamless transportation experience for residents. So, get ready for smoother bus rides and improved connectivity in the near future!
