Pune is gearing up for major infrastructural developments as the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has approved a whopping ₹2,626.37 crore for the construction of 50 new roads. These roads are strategically planned to improve connectivity to key industrial zones like Ranjangaon, Hinjawadi, and Pirangut, as well as religious and tourist destinations.
During a recent meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase announced that ₹203 crore will be allocated to build ten new roads spanning a total of 60 km to enhance industrial access. This move comes as a relief to businesses operating in areas like Hinjawadi that have been plagued by poor road conditions.
In addition to industrial access, the PMRDA has also earmarked ₹67 crore to upgrade connectivity to major tourist attractions such as Khadakwasla and Pavana dams, as well as forts like Tikona, Tung, Lohagad, and Rajmachi. The goal is to make these destinations safer and more accessible for visitors, especially those in Maval taluka.
Other notable projects under this initiative include the development of a chowpatty at Khadakwasla dam, installation of protective fencing and safety nets at Palshe waterfall in Mulshi, and better road access to historical forts and the Mugao and Tamhini ghats in Maval. A significant portion of the budget, amounting to ₹636.84 crore, has been dedicated to road infrastructure for the proposed Purandar airport to ensure seamless connectivity.
Overall, this ambitious road development initiative aims to tackle long-standing infrastructure challenges while promoting economic growth, tourism, and urban expansion across the Pune Metropolitan Region. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments!
