Hey Pune folks, big news for tree lovers and conservationists! The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken a significant step towards tree conservation by establishing a Tree Authority Committee. This committee will now require developers to obtain prior permission from the Tree Authority before they can receive a completion certificate for their construction projects.

This decision, made during a meeting chaired by PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Yogesh Mhase, aims to boost tree conservation efforts in the region. The Tree Authority Committee operates under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act of 1975, ensuring that developers adhere to tree conservation guidelines.

Developers seeking a no-objection certificate and final occupancy letter must now obtain a completion certificate from the Tree Authority. Additionally, the PMRDA has decided to reduce the deposit amount required for tree conservation in rural areas falling under its jurisdiction.

According to the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act of 1975, developers must pay a deposit per tree if they fail to meet tree planting requirements. Once the necessary trees are planted as per guidelines, the Tree Authority will issue a final no-objection certificate. Dr Yogesh Mhase, the PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner and Chairman of the Tree Authority Committee, has announced that the deposit paid during the final approval of plot drawings will be refunded upon tree inspection and compliance confirmation.

This move by the PMRDA is a positive step towards promoting sustainable development and preserving the green cover in Pune. Stay tuned for more updates on tree conservation efforts in the city!
